Shianne Wisdom, mentee
I consider myself a writer because writing is something I wanted to do since 4th grade. As I’ve gotten older I began to have my own voice. I feel like I can articulate my thoughts through writing. I love fashion and love writing and I thought why not combine the two!? I would love for people to imagine an outfit or item of clothing I am writing about.

I consider myself a writer because it’s my job! Ever since I got my feet wet as a reporter at the Daily News I knew I wanted to tell stories and make media for my career. I love putting out media that resonates with people—whether it’s telling an important story or providing a service or providing a distraction. My genre is journalism, reporting, digital, blogging, social media. A few years ago I would have said to be leading a site like ELLE.com was my goal. I’m still figuring out this job so I haven’t quite set my next goals! I know I’d like to have a better work/life balance and have more time whatever that next step my be… My work has been published in the Daily News, on ELLE.com, The Wall Street Journal, TODAY.com, Bon Appetit, Fashionista, and in NYLON.
StyleWithoutFear will be my fashion blog, but it will cover more than just fashion. It will show my interests and goals--to work in fashion--and it will also be a place for me to reflect on what I like right now: in music, in art, in fashion, in culture. On the site I will feature shoots I've styled, interviews with fashion industry insiders, and my writing about people I like (instagram stars, musicians, designers, celebrities, whomever).
