The Marzipan Café was inspired by a restaurant I went to. The food was amazing and it felt so magical eating under the Christmas lights. Afterwards I thought: wouldn't it be cool to eat at a magic restaurant? I was mostly inspired by my favorite book, The Night Circus. The audience knows that the circus is run with real magic, but the circus goers are unaware. I wanted my story to have a similar atmosphere where magic and reality are interwoven. It also influenced by a bit of Alfred Hitchcock with some mystery and suspense. I combined digital media with my writing by using a HTML Page to create a visual narrative. I used tumblr and a cool theme that allowed me to have pictures in the background and music to enhance my story.I love telling my story through digital media because it’s a form of expression that you sometimes can’t quite capture on paper. Photography and storytelling has become an outlet for my creativity and inspiration in making this piece. I hope you enjoy it.
